STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Pacific Secondary School provides students with an opportunity to experience an alternative educational setting and process. The academic requirements set out by the British Columbia Ministry of Education and followed by high schools in British Columbia apply to Pacific Secondary students. However, the setting of the school and the process and structure differ from most high schools in that:

* The program is individualized;
* The program will provide for flexible entry and exit;
* The alternate setting and process are suitable for students who have found the regular high school setting has not met their educational, or emotional needs.

Those students who are admitted into Pacific are expected to be committed to completing their high school diploma within a normal period of time.

The critical factor affecting a student's potential for success is the student's willingness to accept responsibility for his/her education.
